Pain - ting

So here is the beginning of my development towards my final piece of my dad. Sir said to buy a canvas which was 1metre x 1 metre, so when I heard this I was so scared since i've never done a painting on a canvas so big! I used oil paints for the overall medium and because its oil based i've been using my fingers to create the smooth texture. I took inspiration from Elly Smallwood since her paintings have red tones and almost not very neat in the way she applies the paint.

This took me 4 hours to do this section of his face (ahhh) so I had no idea how long it would take me to complete the whole painting! I used paint brushes to achieve smaller details but I found using my fingers allowed the painting to cover a larger section but a more thinner consistency. I love how acciendental painting can be, I envisaged this painting to have a rough texture (almost like prominent paint strokes) but my neat side of me came out when completing it and most of the painting because very neat and precise.

This was me the other day (thursday) where I spent A WHOLE DAY in school trying to finish it. Unfortunately it isn't quite finished yet because I dont want to rush it and I want to be proud of the final outcome. There are some features which need to be adjusted. But i'm proud of the part the painting is at now as I feel I have achieved an abstract angle to the overall piece which is what I was aiming for.

Here is another mini project of a painting of my dad.
