London is the most best place on earth, it's the heart of busyness, coffee and London fashion week/weekend. Yesterday I went up to London to go to London Fashion Weekend! I've been waiting for ages and finally the day came (yay). I spent my whole day there so I'm going to tell you about what I did and about the fashion loaded catwalk.
Most of the day was me walking around adoring loads of clothes which I couldn't afford. I had to control myself! Designer after designer, rails packed with clothes fit for your for S/S13. Embellishment, florals, graphic art, minimalism (to name a few) of what the designers have been inspired and keen to design for this very vibrant and bold spring/summer. I found myself admiring one of Helene Berman yellow jackets with a white collar but I just couldn't, lets just say the price eek. Think of an up and coming designer mish mashed with a recent designer, they would be there! Issa London had some very complicated repetative elegant dresses which were to die for! Olivia Rubin did some awesome graphic printed paper-clip tops/jumpers, we went in their 3 times (I literally couldn't take my eyes off them). The Cambridge Satchel Company had their own shelves which lit up the room due to the neon orange and yellow satchel bags! I bagged myself a VVVintage over sized boyfriend blazer type long navy coat which i've been trying to hunt down for donkeys years! I'm loving the masculine shape and details, from the long collars and gold statement buttons. It's a shame I found it now as this is an a/w (the one just gone) was all in the shops, oh well, hopefully it will carry on this spring! Temptation temptation, Finsk did a very cute nude clog which I so very wanted! You could tell it was a shoe, but looked so very close to an actual foot because of the leather material wrapping round the dark wooden blocks. I think I might go hunt them down!
As well as the shopping, I also got to go to the Catwalk! The fantastic Hilary Anderson put together a number of looks which surprisingly the clothes were from high street shops such as Topshop and Miss Selfridge! There were 4 looks: Graphic Art, Dolls House, Urban Lifestyle and Eastern Promise.
Graphic Art: when its not black or white, its red and white! The printed designs of high precision took to the stage as the neat collage of squares, spots and stripes are etched onto keys pieces of "mini-shift to maxi". They say blame Marc Jacobs who kicked of these geometric designs. I guess one side of it can be very plain and bold with colours such as chrome yellow and emerald, whereas there can be a side of very repetitive patterns combined the same very vibrant and abstract patterns. Lots of lines of symmetry to complete the look and make it look a whole. Make up was very neutral with baby tones and splashes of diamond powder around eyes and cheek bones. It worked very well as it was subtle which made the bold prints and positions of the outfits take centre stage.
Dolls House: A very modern take on 'pretty' white the obligatory colour of pink and purple. Very alien-type girl with hi-shine translucent materials, sort of a sweet rapper texture and shine about it. The embellished head bands and shoes were a show stopper as the fabulous Her Curious Nature completed this look and gave it the definite wow factor! It was a very plastic look with sharp detail and obscure materials. The type of look you'd find on a very well looked after barbie doll.
Urban Lifestyle: Your very plain look where people would say 'So simple but so effective'. A very city chic girl looking for a contemporary look filled with your personality. The fitted blazers, skirts and dresses with not much detail were very block and simple. The powerful striking collars were effective on all looks making it more 'work' type looks. An overall classy look made for anyone who's prim and proper.
Eastern Promise: Oriental patterns suited on a long elegant dress or high waisted trousers for a eastern spirit spring/summer. Large over sized belts to separate the look with minimal accessories as the clothes clearly do the talking. Elements of florals and unusual patterns scattered carefully over a silk blouse matched with high-waisted silk trousers. Think animals (dragons and tigers) - Have you seen the Kenzo tiger jumper, yep that is a very modern take on this Eastern Promise!
Take a look yourself at some of the snaps I took - the photos aren't in order of the trends but I'm sure you'll figure out what is which.
